Heather Sink

Heather Sink was born in the northern region of England. She has always had a passion for the arts. As an adult she worked and travelled all over Europe taking in the diverse sights and cultures of the various countries. She earned her Fine Arts and Education Degree from Meredith College, NC. Heather retired from teaching art in the North Carolina public schools and now teaches at her working studio, Craving Art Studio. Her love of teaching and travel have come to fruition, taking students to paint in Mexico, Italy and England. Heather has studied painting with Trisha Adams, Alyssa Monks, Melinda Cootsona, David Shevlino and many other artists. She is a life-long learner and continues to study painting. Heather paints from her Plein Air studies created during her travels. Light and emotion are some elements Heather strives to bring to her work. She feels that the emotional connection to a piece of art is personal to each viewer. Many of her works are in private collections around the world.

FAQ

  • What equipment do I need to take this course?

    A computer and a high speed internet connection. A way to photograph your paintings to upload for the critique. A phone camera works well. A printer to print resource material.

  • How is the course structured?

    When the course begins, all materials will be available so you can work as fast or as slow as you please. The critique part of the course is available for one month after registration, but the course is available to you for one year.

  • Is this a Zoom course?

    No, this is not a Zoom course. The course is not live but recorded and all material is available as soon as you register for the course. You have interaction with me during your critique month.

  • How long will I have access to the course material?

    You will have access to the course for one full year.

  • Will we paint from reference photos or do we provide our own?

    I will provide the reference photos for you to use. I will demonstrate how to use the concepts I am teaching. Using the same reference photo makes consistent review for everyone. Of course, you may use these concepts in your own work.

  • What media can I use?

    You may use oils or acrylics. Acrylics dry faster and dry a little darker. Please buy the transparent colors from the supply list as this is an important element for this course. I will be using oils in all my demonstrations. Use more water in your transparent under painting or use a little acrylic medium.
